Tips for Contacts Wearers
Monday, November 9th, 2009Contacts never fail to fascinate modern people. They serve the same purpose as the traditional glasses do, but the former are lightweight and almost invisible which make them more convenient and aesthetics for wearing. But wearing contacts also have some disadvantages which you should always take into consideration.
I am also a contacts user and here are the experiences I want to share with you after wearing them for almost 3 years. I never wear contacts all day and everyday, except when I am going outdoors with friends or having a party. Because wearing contacts too regularly may cause some eye diseases like dry eyes and may also thins the cornea. Scientific researches have already proved that the eyes’ surface condition depends on the following factors: the adequate content of tears and the adequate content of oxygen. So try to wear traditional glasses in normal times as it is easier for your delicate eyes to get enough O2.
In addition, wearing the contacts may lower your eyes sensitivity because of the constant irritation. We blink eyes to keep eyes moist and prevent the dust from coming into our eyes. Thus, a lack of sensitivity won’t benefit the eyes. What’s more, you should pay particular attention to the hygiene. Infections transmitted by bacteria and fungi can pose severe threat to the eyes in case you carry on using an unhygienic pair of contact lenses. Thus, the proper methods of cleaning, storing and replacing your contacts are of the utmost importance.
What’s also worth noting is that if you carry some eye diseases like trachoma you’d better never try to wear it as the contacts may make your condition even worse. Do not forget to bring a bottle of eye drops with you to keep your eyes moist when your eyes feel dry and uncomfortable.
Wearing contacts is a lot more convenient and aesthetic than the common glasses or spectacles, but you should keep it clean and use it correctly in order to protect your dear eyes. After all, healthy eyes are a lot more important than just looking good.
