How to Choose Suitable Sunglasses

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Sunglasses of famous brands continue to maintain a large frame mode this year. Butterfly-shaped and square-shaped are the most popular. They are retro and popular. Sunglasses colors this summer are much more than that of the spring. Bright blue, rose red, green or even orange is still popular. Now I’ll give recommendations according to different face shapes.

1. Oval face

Broad-frame sunglasses are the most appropriate to oval face, as the face looks wider wearing such kind and it helps to shorten the length of the face. Fine-edge or metal-frame sunglasses are not good choices. Short bead necklace, round-collar clothing and the right sunglasses type will make the face relatively round and add beauty.

2. Square face

A square face gives people the feeling of toughness feeling, so avoid the election of square-frame sunglasses and choose those with big round frames and the edge should be wide. Sunglasses with elegant edge will not be so commensurate. In addition to sunglasses, doing the hair highly up will make the square face slender and narrower in vision. In addition, the wearing of round or shaking earrings will turn others’ attention to the under part of the face so a square face will appear slender.

3. Round face

Round-frame sunglasses are not suitable for a round face. Round frames or round earrings will emphasize the roundness of the face. Therefore, people with round faces should choose wide-frame sunglasses and avoid the round, light or naive-type ones. Bead earrings, bead chains and round-collar clothes are wise choices to a round face, and the best option is a long necklace or V-collar clothes.

4. Heart-shaped face

A heart-shaped face usually has a sharp chin and wide forehead, too big or too broad frame sunglasses will make the facial contour appear more spacious and the jaw line smaller at the tip. So the people with such kind of face should avoid wearing sunglasses whose frame is upward tilt on both sides, as it will only emphasize the sharpness of the chin. People of heart-shaped faces are advised to wear sunglasses of lightweight texture and polygonal shapes for they will help form a harmoniously beautiful outline of face in vision.

Guiding Manual on Selecting Progressive Glasses

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

The ophthalmology and prescription of the progressive glasses is totally different from that of presbyopic glasses and bifocal glasses. It needs more scientific ophthalmological technology and stricter operating process. If any single chain of the whole process turns out to be wrong, it will not only result in money wasting but also be harmful to the health of consumers. Therefore, on one hand, the ophthalmologist should adhere to the professional morality. On the other hand, we, as consumers, need to have some basic knowledge on selecting progressive glasses.

Firstly, we need to know what we want and ask the ophthalmologist to examine our eyes to make sure whether there is a need for us to wear a pair of progressive glasses.

Secondly, if the examining result turns out to be that we have the need to wear progressive glasses, then the ophthalmologist will do optometry on our eyes—optometry both in near distance and far distance. Next, the ophthalmologist will use FCC as the elementary reading additional glasses for us, basing on our ages, errors of refraction, the present eyesight.

Thirdly, choose and adjust the frame of the glasses. In the process of selecting a suitable pair of progressive glasses, the adjustment of the frame is very important. The following ten points should be carefully noticed:

1. The frame should enjoy a good stability. Generally speaking, you’d better not choose glass frame without brim, or the frame tend to warp.

2. The glass frame should enjoy enough vertical height, or the myopia part of the glasses is inclined to be cut away when the worker are doing severing work. Currently, the vertical height of the frame should not less than thirty-five millimeters.

3. The space below the glass circle and above the bridge of nose should be broad and deep enough to contain the progressive zone. It is better not to use Ray Ben frame which enjoys a space of highly slanting degree below the glass circle and above the bridge of nose.

4. The frame should be equipped with pseudostipules that have the performance of adjusting vertical height.

5. Under the precondition that the frame keeps no touching of the eyelashes, the smaller of the space between the frame and eyes is, the better the effect of wearing progressive glasses will be. After choosing the frame you like, try on it and then make some proper adjustment.

6. Make sure that the radian of the spherical surface in front of the frame tallies with the radian of your forehead.

7. Keep the frame balanced. Well tune the angle of the legs of the glasses so that the frame could be worn rightly on your face.

8. Oblique angle in front of the frame should be adjusted to 10~15 degrees lest that the frame should be in touch of face.

9. Adjust the pseudostipules so as to shorten the distance between the glasses and your eyes. The shorter the distance is, the better. But you should keep the glasses without the touch of your eyelashes.

10. The legs of the glasses should be well tuned until the frame is stably worn and you feel comfortable.

At last, the ophthalmologist will measure the horizontal distance (pupillary distance) and the vertical height.

My Grandma’s Poor Eyesight

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

My grandma is 79 years old now. And her eyesight is always very poor. And that always makes some mistakes that make us all laugh.

Once, there’s an old rusty nail on the wall. It was small on the wall. At that time I was playing the PC in the living room. And my grandma was in search of something behind me in the living room. Suddenly, grandma cried with a big joy: “Aha! Finally I caught you, my little fly!” I was surprised; I turned my head to her. She was holding a flapper, squinting at the wall. “What are you watching, grandma?” I asked. “Oh, can’t you see the fly on the wall? I just killed it!” “Bravo, Grandma! But, isn’t it a rusty nail?” I said so. Because I recognized that the “fly” my grandma “killed” was just that old rusty nail. “Oh! How poor my eyesight!”

That thing made us all laugh that night. But my grandma’s japes were not only this.

One day, I went to my grandma’s home. She lived with my uncle, auntie and my sister. I went there for the dinner. My parents would go after work. I knocked the door, and grandma opened it. I called “Grandma!” My grandma stared at me for a while, and then asked “You’ve bought a new coat again?” I was confused, “Eh, what do you mean grandma?” Maybe she finally recognized my voice. She said open-eyed, “Are you Lydia? I thought you’re Blair.” Eh, Blair is my sister. And at that time she was shopping outside. My grandma had mistaken us two. And she thought my sister bought a new coat again. That night our laughter might have disturbed the neighbors.

There are a lot of japes made by my grandma. At last, we determined to buy a pair of glass for her. We chosen and chosen, finally we bought a perfect one. Then, her eyesight was better than before. She can easily tell the fly and the nail with the glass.

“Grandma, your eyes are better now, aren’t they?” We asked.

“Yes, of course! But, how bothering taking on and off the glass. I still prefer to kill the nail.”
