Buy Prescription Glasses Online save lot

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

A new trend recently covered by some major news media outlets has consumers doing a bit of hands-on window shopping at eye glasses stores, but then waiting to make their purchases online.

For years the more Internet-savvy have been buying cheap prescription glasses frames online, but then had to go to their local eye glasses store to have their prescription lenses put in. And anyone who wears glasses knows that the lenses often cost more than the frames.

The biggest step forward in this new shopping trend in recent months and years is the ability now to be able to buy prescription glasses online, including the lenses, and to save on the entire package.

Finding prescription glasses is not merely an act of casual frugality. Well, for some it may be. But for others, especially those with multiple children who need glasses, finding prescription glasses is a financial necessity. A decent pair of glasses and lenses can easily cost hundreds of dollars. Multiplied by a few kids and that becomes a debilitative expense.

With no option but to shop at a local opticians or eye glasses store, families that need to shell out on multiple pairs of prescription glasses are usually forced to settle for cheaper brands of reduced quality. When children are involved, that typically means the glasses become scratched, worn down or broken at an accelerated rate. (more…)

Eye Care Concerns for Seniors

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Cataracts can cause severe visual impairment and even blindness, and they often arise due to the aging process. The eyes cloud up due to the cataract and cause the person’s vision to degrade as the eyes become more clouded. The good news is that there are procedures that can help with this.

There are many elderly people driving on the roads today in their own car. If they do not have routine visits with an eye doctor then they may have clouding of their vision. This can cause the person to be unable to see to the side of them or even directly in front of them. This makes them a danger on the road and it can put them at risk of injury or death also. An eye exam must be done for elderly patients annually to measure the clouding of the eyes and look for cataracts.

Cataracts cause the inability to see and when elderly cannot see it is common to cause the person to fall down by tripping over objects and other things. They may fall down stairs, in the shower, and in other areas in the house. The unfortunate event is that these cataracts can be fixed but many people don’t realize that the problem is in the vision. Broken bones occur more often with a fall in the elderly because as you age your bones weaken. Every fall is more dangerous and can decrease your longevity with each break. It is very important for an eye exam to take place with elderly on a regular basis.

Seniors often are misdiagnosed with problems like osteoporosis or other things when all they needed was their eyes checked and their cataracts to be fixed by replacing the lenses in their eyes. Elderly people fall down often and break bones. They risk themselves and others when they drive on the highway without being able to see. There is a fix for cataracts. Seniors should make an eye doctor visit a habit.
